Prese​ntation:  Mr. Scheer will discuss the Alaska Mariculture Initiative, Governor Walker's Mariculture Task force and economic development and job creation through mariculture in Alaska.  

Biography
Markos Scheer has been a board member (and officer) of the Alaska Fisheries Development Association (AFDF) since 2007.  Mr. Scheer participates on the Advisory Committee on Infrastructure and Investment for the Mariculture Task Force.  Mr. Scheer is also honored to serve on the Sitka Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the Board of Directors for the Southeast Conference.  Mr. Scheer is originally from Southeast, graduating from Ketchikan High School in 1986 and spent 13 years working in the seafood industry in Southeast Alaska for Silver Lining Seafoods and NorQuest Seafoods (now part of Trident Seafoods).  Over the last 18 years, Mr. Scheer has been an attorney representing seafood industry businesses involved in nearly every material commercial fishery from California to the Bering Sea.  Mr. Scheer is licensed to practice law in Alaska and Washington and is currently a Member of Williams Kastner & Gibbs PLLC, a commercial law firm with an office in Sitka, Alaska and serving commercial clients and municipalities from Alaska, Washington and Oregon.  Mr. Scheer was the 2015 president of the Northwest Fisheries Association and member of the NWFA board for 8 years.  In his spare time, Mr. Scheer is a regular contributor to the National Fisherman’s North Pacific Focus magazine (presented by the Alaska Fisherman’s Journal).
